Grosse Point Blank

Recently I fired up the soundtrack to the movie Grosse Point Blank. It reminded me that after I saw this movie I immediately went out and bought the soundtrack and the VHS as soon as it was available because the movie was just that good.

The movie tells the story of Martin Blank who comes home in time for his 10th year high school reunion. Martin is tired of the rat race of his chosen profession and is looking for a fresh start. Oh yeah - Martin is a professional hitman.

The movie stars John Cusack and Minnie Driver with strong supporting performances by Joan Cusack, Dan Arkroyd and Mitch Ryan (General McAllister from Lethal Weapon). The real co-stars of the movie, however, are the soundtrack and the lively dialog. If you are an 80's music fan this movie gives you choice cuts from the Violent Femmes, the Clash, Faith No More and the English Beat among others.

If you like dark comedy, good scriptwriting and 80' music - this is a guaranteed hit for you. Add it to your Netflix list, rent it from Blockbuster or buy it from Amazon and you won't be disappointed.
