The Irish Symbolism Behind Dracula

Wait what? Tyler Cowen on the symbolism of Bram Stoker's Dracula being about Irish independence and self-determination?

Reminds me of how I would randomly tell my kids that any song currently playing on the radio was about heroin. Didn't matter if it was The Little Drummer Boy or The Macarena - the song was about heroin. And I could give a plausible explanation of the symbolism. The donkey in the Little Drummer Boy was symbolic of his heroin addiction for example. It's become a family joke, I'd say, "You know what this song is about?" To which they'd all respond, "Heroin - right?"

Now using Tyler Cowen's example I can say, "No - Irish self-determinism!"
