Political Prediction

George W. Bush has been anything except predictable (unless of course you just go by what he says because strangely enough when he says he's going to do something - he usually does it. This of course drives the press and the French crazy. Where's the nuance in doing what you say you are going to do?).

I will make a prediction though. Right now Bush has the election in the bag (Vegas odds Bush -$140 to Kerry +$100) but if things get close then I would look for Dick Cheney to step aside and Bush to name Colin Powell as VP and therefore also heir apparent. Bush could also then name Paul Bremer as Sec. of State. LANDSLIDE!

Now I know that Colin Powell isn't the favorite of many of the more conservative conservatives but a Bush / Powell ticket would be unstoppable.

Just as an aside - isn't it strange that the Democrats are wallowing in the limelight of the latest Michael Moore opus while the Republicans announce the new sovereignty of 26 million people without any real press fanfare. Between choosing a fantasy land and living in the real world - I pick the real world. How about you?
