Lopez vs. Estrada

This past off-season the Braves let Javy Lopez walk as a free agent and went with youngster Johnny Estrada as their catcher. Let's take a look at how that's working out:

Lopez: 116 G / 452 AB / 63 R / 19 HR / 65 RBI / .316 BA / .369 OBP / .504 SLG

Estrada: 103 G / 359 AB / 48 R / 8 HR / 62 RBI / .331 BA / .389 OBP / .493 SLG

I think Lopez has the advantage but it is close enough that you would have to say this definitely was a good move by the Braves especially when you factor in that Lopez is 33 (will be 34 in November) and is signed for $7.5 million per year while Estrada is just 28 and is only on the books this year for $310,000.
