Miscellaneous Baseball Thoughts

The Kansas City Royals traded Carlos Beltran for three young players; catcher John Buck, third baseman Mark Teahen and pitcher Mike Wood. Buck is hitting just .216 with 6 HR and 15 RBI with the big club while Wood is 2-6 with a 5.57 ERA in 11 starts. Teahen is still at AAA where he is hitting .273 with 7 HR and 28 RBI in 56 games... Roberto Alomar's next hit will give him 2,722 and move him into 49th place all-time - passing Lou Gehrig... Manny Ramirez's next HR will give him 382 for his career and will move him into a tie for 47th place all-time - passing Albert "Joey - what do you want for Halloween" Belle... Did you know that Harold Baines had more career HR than Jim Rice? Yup - 384 to 382. I did not know that... Estaban Loaiza has had a 7.30 ERA since becoming a member of the Yankees. Jose Contreras has had a 3.98 ERA since being traded to Chicago... Do you think Tom Glavine would make it through waivers? I would love to see the Red Sox get him... Happy 54th birthday to Lousiana Lightning Ron Guidry (even though you were a Yankee - I still liked you)...
