We can only hope. Here's what Peter Gammons said on ESPN:
Now you turn to Kevin Millar, he's been disappointed. The Red Sox have been playing John Olerud alot. He asked Terry Francona last weekend, look it, see if you can trade me. They looked around, they talked to Houston, that rumor was out there, that isn't happening. So far there's nothing there but you know with Youkilis and Olerud, playing time is diminished.Millar has been awful this year. Kevin Youkilis, John Olerud or Roberto Petagine (down at AAA Pawtucket) are all better options than Millar. I hope Theo Epstein is able to move him.
Supporters of Millar will point out that he's a big part of the team chemistry. And that's true. It is also true that his big mouth is just as likely to cause problems as loosen up the clubhouse (just ask Nomar). Millar should be thankful for playing in Boston. It is the passion of Boston and the spotlight it brings that has made him a regular on The Best Damn Sports Show and given him opportunities like his KFC commercials. Instead off being thankful - he wants out because he wants more playing time.
I don't think the chemistry on the team would be effected at all if Millar's playing time went to Youkilis and Olerud. If Theo brought someone else in then it may not be a fit. Millar should be thanking Theo for saving him from the obscurity he was heading to in Japan. Instead he's asking to be traded.
Fine - don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.
