Miscellaneous Thoughts

I'm surprised than nobody has given Fred McGriff a shot so far this year. McGriff is supposedly a good clubhouse presence and he is so close to 500 HR that he could be a crowd draw for somebody... Simple Minds All the Things She Said is one of the most underrated songs of the past 20 years... Many people are talking about security concerns about the Olympic Games in Athens but not many people mention the fact that the Tour de France is probably impossible to properly defend (remember the protesters who were able to get right in front of the leaders?). I hate to say this again but Lance Armstrong would have to make an inviting target for terrorists. Armstrong is a living symbol of American dominance, he is sponsored by the US Postal Service, he's from Texas and is a friend of George W. Bush... Hunter S. Thompson has fallen off the face of the Earth. It's been a month since his last column on ESPN.com. (Maybe ESPN got fed up with his lack of effort - maybe he's on vacation - maybe he's in a Mexican jail.)... Please do not taunt the dynamite monkey... What about McGriff in New York with the Yankees? Travis Lee is hurt and Giambi has a hard time playing back to back days in the field. Just saying... Email note from Mark Warmuth - "Weird note on Drew Denson--He had the last hit at old Cleveland Stadium (an armpit by anyone's measure)." (Chris says in his best Johnny Carson voice, "I did not know that.")... My spellcheck always wants to replace "Giambi" with "gimpy". Maybe my PC knows best...
