Miscellaneous Thoughts

Some observations while I have my first cup of Joe...

Since when did the movie The Good, The Bad and The Ugly get the title as the best directed movie of all-time?... How big of a slump has Derek Jeter been in this season? Roger Clemens still has a higher batting average (.222 to .194) and a higher OBP (.263 to .258) than Derek Jeter! We are a quarter through the season!... Judge Judy was at the game at Fenway last night - which gives me the opportunity to note that Judge Judy actually has a larger contract than Manny Ramirez. Judge Judy has a 4-year $100 million deal. Think of that the next time anyone tells you that athletes are overpaid... Here is some excellent advice if you are serious about your blackjack playing... If the Mets fall out of playoff contention (they're 20-22 right now) - do you think the Red Sox will talk to the Mets about a trade for Tom Glavine? Glavine is a local guy (although he now makes his home outside of Atlanta) who will make $10.5 million this year and next (with a 2006 option for $10.5 million that vests with 200 IP next year). If Derek Lowe doesn't turn it around - then a starting pitcher will be number 1 on Theo Epstein's shopping list... The World Series of Poker starts today and I have to wonder if TJ Cloutier is to the WSOP what Dale Earnhardt was to Daytona in NASCAR. Cloutier has never won the WSOP in 21 tries (although he does have two 2nd place finishes, one 3rd and one 5th)... The Red Sox should honor Johnny Pesky by officially naming the right field foul pole after him. They could attach a metal sign with his name and number to the sign in foul territory (I bet MLB would have no objection)... Here's a blog about a guy tracking the growth of his penis after taking super penis pills. I was disappointed that he disn't have a comments section (feel free to have a flashback to the opening scene of Porky's while reading this)...
